Well... since the blog's really dead and all... I have returned. Ever since I shifted to the boarding school (save me) I've been compelled to read the papers on Sundays... There's always something about changing the Maths and Science back to BM. Irritating lah. It's said that they would continue to teach it until 2008, and on that year they will reach the decision on whether to change it or not. Here's the article: Speak up: English or BM? FOUR years after its implementation, some parties are still calling for a review on the policy of teaching mathematics and science in English. Beginning 2003, pupils in Year One and Form One began to study both subjects in English, with schools being equipped with overhead projectors and Science and Maths teachers being given personal laptops as well as specially designed software to teach the subjects. However, the Government affirmed that the two core subjects will continue to be taught in English until 2008, when a decision will be made whether to revoke the policy and revert to Bahasa Malaysia as the medium of instruction or to continue with English. What do you think? StarEducation is seeking the views of teachers and students who have been most affected by the policy, as well as parents. Do you want the teaching of both subjects to continue in English or do you think it has been a failure? Was the initial decision to teach both subjects in English rushed through without proper study?
